Student Paper Competition

» Award for best students' and recent post-docs' papers

Students and recent post-docs are invited to submit a journal article (8000 word limit) based on their PhD or MSc research.  The ESRS 2017 scientific committee will select the best paper, and work with the author to develop it for publication in Sociologia Ruralis.  The winner will also receive a scholarship to cover the cost of the congress fee, congress dinner and accommodation in Krakow.

Please note that papers should be single authored by the student. 

Papers must be based on an abstract accepted to the ESRS congress, which are due January 15 2017.  Full papers should be sent to the Local Organising Committee at the address: esrs2017@uj.edu.pl. Submissions are due on 1st May 2017.

Access Awards

» Support for potential participants, who are not be able to cover the cost of the congress fee

The access awards are for participants who, for financial reasons, would otherwise not be able to attend the congress.  Five awards will be awarded on a competitive basis, based on the two page paper submitted to the congress proceedings, a letter explaining why the applicant would like to attend the congress and a letter of support from the applicant's supervisor or department head.  Applications will be evaluated by the local organising committee.

Individuals at any stage of their career may apply; students are welcome to apply for both an access scholarship and the student paper competition.  Applications are due on 1 May 2017. Please note that all submissions should be based on abstracts accepted for oral presentations. Submissions should be sent to the Local Organising Committee at the address: esrs2017@uj.edu.pl. 

The award will cover the cost of the congress fee, congress dinner and accommodation in Krakow.  It will not cover the cost of travel to Krakow or subsistence while en route to or staying in Krakow. 

Sociologia Ruralis 'Best Paper' Award

» Award for the top article published in Sociologia Ruralis

The ‘best paper' will be awarded to the top article published in Sociologia Ruralis (2015 and 2016), as voted by ESRS congress delegates.  Nominations will be made by the Sociologia Ruralis Editorial Board, and the shortlist circulated to members for voting in 2017.  The paper will be featured on a poster at the congress.
